As a high temperature resistant coating, it is widely used in places such as chimneys, high temperature pipes, high temperature furnaces, petroleum cracking devices and high temperature reaction equipment in aerospace, thermal power plants and steel plants. These places have extremely high requirements for the heat resistance of coatings, and silicone resin coatings just meet this demand. For example, silicone coatings prepared with active diatomaceous earth as filler can withstand high temperatures of 700-950℃.
After adding mica powder, SiO₂ powder, aluminum powder and talcum powder to silicone resin, molecular rearrangement can occur at high temperatures to obtain organic-inorganic hybrid materials, further improving the heat resistance, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of the materials.
Silicone resin can also be made into hardened coatings. Its coating has good transparency and high hardness. It is very suitable for plastic products such as polycarbonate and plexiglass, playing the role of hardening, wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
The hydrophobic coating made of silicone resin has very low surface tension and excellent waterproof performance. Coupled with its superior cold resistance, heat resistance, elasticity and weather resistance, it is widely used in waterproof and moisture-proof coatings for buildings.
Electrical insulation and bonding field
In electrical insulation, silicone resin is mainly used as insulating varnish, which can be used to impregnate H-class motors and transformer coils. At the same time, it can be used to impregnate glass cloth, glass cloth and asbestos cloth to make motor bushings, electrical insulation windings, etc.
In addition, large-area mica sheet insulation materials can be obtained by bonding mica with silicone insulating varnish, which is used as the main insulation of high-voltage motors. In the field of adhesives, there are two types of polysiloxanes used as adhesives: silicone type and silicone resin type.
Among them, resin-type adhesives are divided into pure silicone resin type and modified resin type, which can be used for bonding various materials such as metals, glass, ceramics, plastics, etc., showing strong bonding properties.
Auxiliary field
As a defoamer, due to its low surface tension, insolubility in water, animal and vegetable oils and high-boiling point mineral oils, good chemical stability and non-toxicity, it has been widely used in the petroleum, chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, food processing, textile, printing and dyeing, papermaking and other industries.
As a lubricant, silicone resin is suitable for rubber, plastic bearings, gear lubricants, and can also be used as a lubricant for rolling friction between steel and steel at high temperatures, or between steel and other metals, but its lubricating performance is not particularly outstanding at room temperature. In addition, it can also be used as an additive, such as a brightener for paints, an additive for inks to improve printing quality, and an additive for polishing oils (such as automotive varnish) to increase gloss.
